Project Background
In July 2023, the Village Board approved a project to develop identity and wayfinding signage throughout the Village, including a redesign of the Village's 24-year-old logo, and they awarded the work to KMA Design. The signage will direct residents and visitors to municipal facilities, Rochester's historic downtown, and parks and recreational areas. The project will also help to build a cohesive visual identity for our community.
Phase 1 of the project was designing a new logo. Following a survey of residents, the Village Board selected the most popular option of four that KMA Design had presented. The new logo has a classic design and features a stalk of wheat as a nod to Rochester's agricultural heritage.
Phase 2 of the project is designing signage. KMA Design has presented several options to choose from. Each option involves several different types of signs.
NOTE: At this point, the Board is only deciding on the design scheme. The Board will decide which types of signs to construct and where to place them as funds allow in the future. These designs are just mock-ups, and not all sign types pictured will necessarily be used.
