Help Wanted: Public Works Manager

The Village of Rochester is seeking a qualified Public Works Manager with a diversified skill set to implement and build upon existing programs to manage all public works functions, including maintenance of roadways, sidewalks, a sanitary sewer collection system, parks, equipment, and village owned buildings.  This position is expected to develop and execute work schedules; prepare and manage annual budgets; prepare and issue bid packets for miscellaneous work; report on activities and bid results; and prepare meeting agendas and reports for committee and board members.

The successful candidate will prioritize communication and relationship building with all municipal personnel, community partners, and the public.   Independent decision-making using logic and reasoning will be routinely exercised.  In addition to executing administrative functions, the Public Works Manager will also supervise and engage in physical labor in the areas of snow removal; maintenance of municipal roadways and sidewalks; public buildings; parks; and the village’s sanitary sewer collection system. 

Desired Minimum Qualifications:   Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and two years’ experience in municipal public works; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Salary range: $75,000 – $80,000 DOQ.  Benefits include health, dental, and life insurance and participation in the Wisconsin Retirement System.  Participation in a Section 457 Deferred Compensation Plan is also available as an optional benefit.
