UPDATE 10/21: Leaf pickup will begin on Tuesday, October 22nd.
The Village of Rochester will be collecting leaves again this fall in certain areas of the Village. Streets in the collection area are shown in blue below:
This is a voluntary service – if you don’t want to participate, keep handling your leaves the way you have in the past.
If you want your leaves picked up, here are the steps you will take:
- Leaf collection will start when about 1/3 of the leaves are down – estimated start date is Monday, October 14th. If the leaves have not started to fall by that time, the alternate start date will be October 21st. ASDA will pick up leaves every Monday for 4 weeks with the possibility of additional days provided, depending on how quickly leaves fall. If ASDA cannot get through the whole route on a Monday, they may need to extend pickup to other days of the week. This is also weather-dependent.
- You will have to get your leaves to the edge of the shoulder. The equipment that the company will use reaches 4 feet from the road edge.
- If you live on County Hwy D, County Hwy W or County Hwy FF and there is a ditch in front of your house, you have to keep the leaves out of the ditch bottom. Please get the leaves up on the ditch slope on the shoulder side of the ditch. If the leaves are in the ditch and we get a rainstorm, the leaves would inhibit the stormwater flow. The same would apply to residents on Village streets.
