HELP WANTED: ZONING ADMINISTRATOR-ASST. VILLAGE ADMINISTRATOR

The Village is seeking applications to fill a newly created full-time position beginning in 2022 for a Zoning Administrator/ Asst. Village Administrator.  This position is offered with the expectation that the successful applicant progress to the position of Village Administrator within 1 -2 years as part of a succession plan to accommodate future staff retirements.   

Candidates for this position will have a Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university, ideally in public administration or planning, and two years administrative experience in municipal government; however any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position will be considered. 

This position, under limited supervision, will ultimately perform high level administrative, technical and professional work in directing and supervising the administration of village government. Including analyzing and implementing policies and procedures, assisting in the preparation of budgets, project management, and strategic planning. Providing leadership and direction in the development of short and long range plans; gathering, interpreting, and preparing data for studies, reports and recommendations; coordinating activities with departments and other agencies as needed. Providing professional advice to the Village Board and department heads; making presentations to boards, commissions, civic groups and the general public. Communicating official plans, policies and procedures to staff and the general public.

Attention to detail, thoroughness, accuracy, proficiency, confidentiality, ability to communicate- both written and oral; proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software, proficiency in technology and internet use, and independent judgment are critical skills for the successful candidate.

Salary range begins at $57,000 and includes health, dental and life insurance; and participation in the Wisconsin Retirement System.  Participation in a Section 457 Deferred Compensation Plan is also available as an optional benefit.
